With the rapid escalation of government response to COVID-19 it became untenable to carry out the March edition of Perth Ambient as a normal meetup, due to physical distancing requirements.

To get around this I thought i'd try a new approach: Get five musicians - some affiliated with PA and some from 'outside' - and form a digital daisy-chain of musical collaboration. In this way, we start with one person who records a 10-15 minute track of their own contribution to a broader piece, with some gaps left for others to fill. They then send this track to the next person in the chain, who records over it in a manner they see fit. And so on it goes sending and overdubbing until the fifth and final person, who then finalises the piece. Two tracks were completed this way, with the order of people randomised in each case.

The results were pretty interesting. Track 1 evolved into a lush, dream-like, feathery ambient piece; whilst Track 2 featured more found sound, textural percussion, wailing violins, sombre drones, and dejected melodic passages.
